Doctor

  • Rex A Sentell , D.V.M.


     Dr. Sentell was born in Knoxville, Tennessee.  He received his B.A. degree in 1975 with high honors and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1980 in the top 10 % of his class. He practiced in Knoxville until he moved to Palm City in 1981 to establish Palm City Animal Clinic.  He is a member of Rotary in which he has served as president and is a Paul Harris Fellow,  a member of the Palm City Chamber of Commerce since 1985 and served as president, a member of First United  Methodist Church in which he has served on Staff Parish and the administrative board,  is on the board of the American Cancer Society, and a member the Florida Oceanographic Society .  He is also a member of the Palm City Neighborhood Advisory Committee.  He is a member of the the American Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Veterinary Association, Central Florida Veterinary Medical Association, Treasure Coast Veterinary Association, and the Martin County Veterinary Association.  He enjoys flying, scuba diving, reading, and fishing as pastime activities.

  • Dr. Mike Wiegand , D.V.M.


     Dr. Wiegand was born in Rochester, New York.  Spent a majority of his youth in Joliet, Illinois. Dr. Wiegand went to Auburn University with a swimming scholarship. While at Auburn , he worked in the parasitology lab and Equine surgery.  Upon graduation from Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995, he practiced in downtown Atlanta as an emergency clinician for 3 years, becoming skilled in emergency medicine and soft tissue surgery.  In 1998, Dr. Wiegand became an associate veterinarian  at the Palm City Animal Clinic, where he continues to learn, love and excel in veterinary medicine.  He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Oceanographic Society, Treasure Coast and Martin County Veterinary Medical Associations, American Veterinary Dental Society .  Outside of veterinary medicine Dr. Wiegand enjoys scuba diving, swimming, surfing and spending quality time with his 2 cats named Haole and Peggy-sue, and his dog  named Chloe.

  • Dr. Paul Wolff , D.V.M.


    Dr. Paul Wolff was born in NYC, NY.  The son of a Navy Dentist, Dr. Wolff has lived thoughout the United States and graduated from the University of California, Davis with a B.S. in Zoology.  While at Davis, he worked in the Vet School's Department of Radiology.  Dr. Wolff received the Senior Veterinary Research Award upon graduating from Mississippi State University, College of Veterinary Medicine and had the opportunity to participate in 5 preceptorship programs during his Senior year.  These preceptorships, including the Atlanta Humane Society and Clinic and the Reid Park Zoo, allowed him to gain valuable knowledge in Small Animal Medicine and expand his surgical experience well beyond what was provided by the standard Veterinary Curriculum.  He was an associate veterinarian and primary emergency clinician in Palm Coast, FL and an associate veterinarian in Boca Raton, FL before joining the Palm City Animal Clinic in 1999.  He is a member of local, State and National Veterinary Associations.  Dr. Wolff has been surfing since 1982 and spends most of his free time in the water.  While living in California, his surf adventures often took him to areas of Baja, Mexico and, more recently, he has been exploring remote surf spots in Central America.  He also enjoys mountainbiking, motorcycle riding, weight training, racquetball and, mostly, spending time with his wife,Tina, and their 3 dogs and 3 cats.

  • Matthew J Schmidt , DVM


    Dr. Schmidt was born in Hollywood, FL but has lived many places including Florida, Illinois, and Texas. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Texas A&M University. While at Texas A&M he worked in the veterinary anatomy department as a teaching assistant. During his senior year of veterinary school, Dr. Schmidt was awarded the Hill’s Buddy Award for excellence in small animal medicine and clinical nutrition and the F.P. Jaggi Public Health Award for interest and proficiency in veterinary public health.

    After graduation Dr. Schmidt moved back to the Sunshine State to work at a small animal hospital in the Orlando area where he gained valuable experience in surgery and emergency medicine. One year later he eagerly came to join the staff here at Palm City Animal Clinic. Dr. Schmidt adds a new dimension to the services offered here at Palm City Animal Clinic with his interest and experience in exotic animal medicine-including reptiles, birds, and small mammals.

    Dr. Schmidt is a member of several national and local veterinary organizations including the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Florida Veterinary Medical Association.

    Dr. Schmidt spends most free time with his wife and three young children. They share their home with "Smudge"-a cat, "Clifford" -a guinea pig, and "Tex" -a sulcata tortoise. He also enjoys golf, fishing, and landscaping.

Technician

  • Barbara Lucarelli , CVT


    Barbara was born in Glendale Heights, Illinois and later moved to Tempe, Arizona.  She has 17 years of experience working in the veterinary field.  Barbara graduated as a Veterinary Assistant from the Pima Medical Institute in 1990 and became a Certified Veterinary Technician in 2007.  Barbara enjoys going to concerts and also being a soccer mom to Ashley and Garrett.  She has 2 Rottweilers, 1 tortoise, 2 oscars, 1 sun conure, and 7 persian cats at home.  Barbara is a small persian breeder.


  • Ms. Kory Brotherton


    Kory was born and raised here in Martin County Florida. She graduated from Martin County High  School and is a proud parent of a wonderful daughter named Taylor. Kory has over 20 years of experience in the caring, medicating, training and showing of animals including horses. She began working at the Palm City Animal Clinic 6 years ago, and has provided both our clients and their pets with top notch care and compassion. When Kory is not working she enjoys playing competitive softball, fishing, horseback riding and playing with her pets -- 3 dogs and 2 cats.

  • Kym Stewart


    Kym was born in La Mesa, California and has also lived in Flagstaff, Arizona.  She has been at the Palm City Animal Clinic for 2 years, and has 7 years experience in the veterinary field.  Kym enjoys spending her free time watching NASCAR, going horseback riding and camping.  She has 2 daughters, Sharon (18) and Wendi (16).  Kym also has 5 dogs, 2 cats, 2 ferrets, and a 100 pound pig.


  • Melissa Battenfield , CVT


    Melissa was born and raised in San Diego, California.  She attended San Diego State University and the Bel-Rea Veterinary Animal Institute in Denver, Colorado.  Melissa worked for 2 years in an all cat specialty hospital in Colorado and also has experience in an internal medicine specialty in Florida.  Her hobbies include golf, going to the beach, and singing karoke.  Melissa has 2 dogs and 2 cats.


  • Tanya Orten


    Tanya was born in Fall River, Massachusetts and went to school in Fort Pierce.  She started as a kennel attendant and has been a Veterinary Technician for 2 years.  Tanya has 4 cats and 2 dogs. Tanya also fosters kittens that come in for adoption.


Reception

  • Cozmo


    Cozmo is our clinic mascot. He is very different from most cats in that he is a Hemingway. He has 7 toes on both front paws!!! Cozmo can be found in the reception area most days on his chair under the computer. He monitors all that come in and out of the clinic and is our resident taste tester.Vetsuite_Img_37449

  • Mrs. Lynda(Lyn) DeMarsh , Certified Technician


    Lynda DeMarsh has participated in the various aspects of veterinary medicine for over 25 years. Her journey started after graduating from high school and began working for Geigy Corporation as a medical transcriptionist. Lyn gained extensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures and medications . After taking a short time off to raise 3 wonderful children Frank, Donna, and Cyndi, Mrs. DeMarsh started to work at Millwood Animal Hospital in New York where she became a certified veterinary technician.
     
    In 1993, Mr. and Mrs. DeMarsh moved to Florida and Lyn began working at the Palm City Animal Clinic, her expert skills in all aspects of veterinary medicine extending from surgical assistant to receptionist position have made her an invaluable asset to our family . Lyn shares her home with her husband, 2 cats (Fury and Phantom) and 2 dogs (Hoss and Sabre) . At times Lyn's home also serves as a rehabilitation center for rescued wildlife such as a boa constrictor, guinea pigs, gerbils, baby rabbits, geckos and even a bat.                            

  • Mrs. Heather Smith


    Heather was born and raised in Martin County Florida. She graduated from South Fork High School and Indian River Community College . Heather has been working at the Palm City Animal Clinic as a recptionist for over 6 years. She has proven to be a invaluable addition to our front desk staff. Heather excells at her postion by making you and your pet feel welcome. She enjoys traveling, listening to live music, riding horses, reading and writing  short stories, painting and drawing. Heather also enjoys playing with her pets --3 dogs Riley, Missi, Zapper, and 3 cats Stash, Zoe, Laser.

  • Robyn Hogya


    Robin was born in Toms River, NJ but grew up in South Florida. Robyn lives with her husband John, daughter Sierra, and two dogs, Pug - Keota and Chihuahua Daisy. Robyn has been working in various medical fields most of her career and has been with Palm City Animal Clinic for over 3 years now. Robyn most enjoys spending time with her family.


  • Melissa Price


    Melissa was born & raised in Miami, Florida. Melissa attended Miami Dade College and is currently pursuing a career in the medical field. Melissa lives with her Fiance Troy and her dog Toby. Melissa enjoys going to the beach and being outdoors.


Grooming

  • Ms. Ani Kramer


    Ani was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and moved to Stuart, Florida at a young age. She graduated from the University of Maryland and raised a wonderful daughter. 
    Ani has been a valued groomer at Snips and Snoozes for over 12 years . Her extensive experience in the field of grooming has made her a priceless asset.
    Ani's hobby includes the grooming of Scotties at widely acclaimed dog shows. Ani shares her home with a family of 6 Scottish Terriers named Shelby, Quinn, Zoey, Michael, Whoople and O'mally.
